Tropicanibalismo was born in the early 2000s in Bogotá, with musicians taking inspiration from traditional music like cumbia, vallenato, champeta and salsa, while using modern instruments to create their own experimental and futuristic sound. Key groups are Los Pirañas, Meridian Brothers, Frente Cumbiero, Romperayo, Chupame El Dedo, with contemporary names such as Conjunto Media Luna, Lola's Dice, La Perla, Mau Gatiyo and Rizomagic.
