Sunflowers Radio [09] w/ ultra caro & Himera

On this 9th episode of Sunflowers Radio, host Cat A Lula welcomes in this second part London-based producer ultra caro who is in town this weekend for the staple Rotterdam festival Left of the Dial. Joining us in the booth is also dj/producer Himera. Together, they will share their insights on self music-productions, their debuts and future projects as well as finding your place in the industry. Having produced for Charli XCX as a member of Planet 1999, and for daine and MEYY herself, previous single and introduction to wild at ♡, “from the heart <3” signified a seismic shift in her artistry. The dimension-shattering instrumental and final track from the forthcoming 11-track album served as just 1/11 of the paths divined by caro♡, like 11 Tarot card spreads, each song promises a different destiny. Her upbringing in the remote stillness of coastal France has deeply shaped her relationship to creativity, “I feel like an outsider having grown up in a place where there’s no cultural industries. I didn’t know the difference between a songwriter, a producer or a composer as a kid so I didn’t build these boundaries in my head”. Himera moulds emotional and story-driven soundscapes, toying with the base notes of trance and pop music. Having released their debut EP in 2022, they present a body of work full of synth-heavy ballads and disorienting pop tunes.
