Bat

Raised in the suburbs close to the mythical city of Detroit, Madrid-based Bat is a selector who maneuvers through music with fluidity. Unwilling to restrict her sound to one note, her sets bounce between the boundaries of genres. Generally her mixes are eclectic yet dynamic, filled with sounds from the past, yet contemporary. From her hometown, Bat brings the influences of Midwestern techno and electro from the 90s. Her exposure to the broken rhythms of dubstep, jungle and drum n bass have enticed her to step outside of conventional club compositions. Bat is a resident of Madrid based queer collective Silenciolocx, a collective of four dj’s from different backgrounds, united by their influences gained from the queer liberation movement. Silenciolocx desires to create a safer queer space in Madrid, with a focus on authenticity both in sound and community. Bat persistently seeks to excite the dance floor through disparate sounds, driving rhythms, colorful synths and clashing breaks. Above all else, her primary desire is for the audience to move with her, stimulated by her sonic selection.
