A proud native of Johannesburg, South Africa, Lerato Tsotetsi is a multifaceted artist & DJ who predominantly crafts genre-bending fusions of classic and contemporary Afrohouse, Amapiano and Afrotech tunes. Raised in Soweto and having called Amsterdam home for the past 6 years, she brings a distinctive artistic perspective to the turntables, blending a quintessential South African flair with elements that span across genres, cultural influences and musical eras —paired with an infectious energy and a striking style expression. Her distinct & boundary-pushing sonic experiences are a delicate blend of cultural depth and intentional narratives that pay homage to her South African heritage, while also connecting listeners to the heartbeat of soul-stirring, dance-inducing soundscapes.
True to her name, Lerato—meaning “love” in Sesotho—produces and hosts a bi-monthly show, Ka Lerato la Love, on Oroko Radio. The show is an exploration of love through the sounds of Afrohouse, Amapiano, and Afrotech, featuring music mixes, interpretations, reflections, anecdotes and more.
