Luigi Madonna is an Italian DJ and producer, born and raised in Naples and now based in
Amsterdam. His story begins in one of the most important chapters of European techno: the
Neapolitan scene, which between the late 1990s and early 2000s turned the city into a true
capital of techno. Luigi grew up inside that world, absorbing the physical, rolling groove that has
always defined the sound of Naples, and that root remains the foundation of everything he does,
behind the decks and in the studio.
Emerging as a DJ and producer in the early 2000s, over the following years he built an international reputation, playing around the world and releasing music across the full spectrum of techno, including some of the genre's most established labels such as Drumcode. That period brought him a global audience and sharpened him as a performer, taking him to Awakenings, Ultra, Resistance, and many of the world's biggest festivals and most iconic clubs like Berghain, Crobar, Cocoricò and many more.
More recently, Luigi has chosen to return to the essence of what drew him to techno in the first place. He has decisively shifted his sound into raw, deep and hypnotic territory, trading big-stage impact for depth, tension and hypnosis. His productions are stripped-back and physical, built on relentless rolling grooves, dark hypnotic textures, and the kind of patient, near-trance energy that lives and breathes on the underground dancefloor.
This new chapter takes shape through his own label Contempo, where he releases with complete creative freedom, alongside releases on Planet Rhythm and his debut in summer 2026 on BCCO. Rooted in the groove of Naples and sharpened in Amsterdam, Luigi Madonna is today fully devoted to the raw, deep and hypnotic sound that represents exactly who he is as an artist.
