Already at age 12 Stephan`s urge to search and find new music existed and manifested in a collection of tapes full of radio recordings, taped over and over again to obtain the perfect collection. However, the love for jazz and vinyl did not came until years later: It was in the late 90ies when producing jungle and searching for the perfect sample as a teenager the 1 euro thrift shop records started to replace the tapes on the shelves and slowly but steady more and more jazz records filled the room. Still mainly bought for samples, they gathered dust for a few more years until one day while playing a Don Rendell record it just was not possible to skip through it anymore. From this moment on, the focus shifted: the interest for electronic music stayed but the drive to explore the rich and beautiful history of jazz music slowly but steady became a bigger and integral part of his life until this very day. While spending some years abroad - where he co-hosted a monthly jazz night - playing records at gigs became a way of reliving and sharing many of the discoveries to date - and to have fun of course.
